Kidding season has started...

Kidding season has officially started at Merry Oaks. 
Rebekah had buck doe twins on Thursday(January 21)
This is her a few days before she kidded.

I didn't get any pictures of the birth because she kidded around 5 AM, and I wasn't there for it.

I was hoping things would go just as smoothly with Iris's kids, and I was excited to see them, Iris usually has lots of very pretty kids. (Quads first year we had her and triplet doelings the next) Unfortunately there were complications, and all 4 of her babies were DOA. Yep, she had quads again, 3 bucks and a doe. They all looked like Jasmine. It was a devastating loss, I was really looking forward to seeing those kids.  I was also hoping to keep a doeling from Iris. I'm grateful for the healthy babies that we do have though, and Iris is doing well.

In happier news, the first group of Alpines is due very soon!They are now on day 144, 143, 142 and 141. We're gonna be busy next week!Merry Oaks Emerald is due Saturday, January 30. She's already filling her udder quite a bit. She usually kids very close to her due date, maybe a day over.

Sweet Flowers Tansy is due Sunday, January 31. She's our old girl, herd queen. She'll be 10 this year! She usually kids right on day 150, barely ever goes over.

Sweet Flowers Poppy is due Monday, February 1. She loves to kid waaay over her due date and hates having girls I really, really need a doe Poppy!


Sweet Flowers Clematis is due Tuesday, February 2. She likes to mix things up and kid whenever she darn feels like it. Early, late, right on time, never, what ever suits her fancy that year.

More babies on the way! Yay!
