As we live and work on our family farm here in NC we strive to bring glory to God through the breeding of our dairy goats.
We work hard to be good stewards of the animals God has given to us and it is a great priority to us to keep our goats in good health and excellent condition.
Proverbs 27: 23-24 Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds;
For riches are not forever, Nor does a crown endure to all generationsProverbs 27:27 There will be enough goats' milk for your food, for the food of your household and maintenance for your girls.We are a family owned farm that raises Alpine dairy goats for milk. We also enjoy showing our goats and we are working to improve our herd.
How We Raise our Goats
Kids are separated at birth and raised on lambar until 3 months of age. Doelings are bred at either 7-9 months of age and 80 lbs or as yearlings. From April to September (approximately, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer) We have plenty of pasture, so our goats do not get hay. We believe it is much, much healthier(and cheaper!) to have them on pastures as opposed to eating hay. When there is not enough grass and browse we feed good quality Coastal hay free choice.
In the past year I have experimented with different feed brands and mixing our own feeds but we went back to our original Blue Seal Feed. I highly recommend this feed for milking does! Our does' production skyrocketed, some even doubling, when I switched them back to Blue Seal 20% protein feed.
GOATS FOR SALE
DOELING AVAILABLILTY
Because we are still growing our herd and need replacements for some of the lower quality and older does, we have a very limited number of doelings for sale. We are breeding 8 Alpines for 2016 so we should have a few doelings available next year. I like to sell doelings through reservations only so later this year I will open the waiting list for 2016 Alpine doelings.
BUCKLING AVIALBLILTY
I usually have registered buck kids available from a few does. I have one junior herd sire available out of Poppy.
WETHER AVAILABLILTY
Wethers, or castrated males, make great pets or can be trained as pack goats or cart goats.
We have several of these available each year.
MILKING DOES
We usually have a few milkers available each year. Reservations are full for 2015 milkers. I have a Recorded Grade milker that will be for sale $250 and an Alpine 2 year old that may be for sale also $250. If you are interested in a milking doe next year please let me know and I'll put you on the waiting list.
