Spring Show 2016

We had a great show last weekend! Thank you to everyone who helped put on such an awesome show!
It was great to see old friends and make new ones too, and overall I was pleased with how my goats did:)
Poppy and Della both placed high in their classes in all 3 rings. Adonis's Sr. kids placed well in their classes. On Sunday, in the Alpine Specialty,  Dove took Reserve Junior Champion behind an awesome looking yearling who went on to Best Jr. Doe in Show.
Special also took 1st in 2 rings, and Faramir took 1st in all 3, going Jr. champion twice.

The dry yearlings placed well in the first ring, though towards the middle of their classes in the next 2 rings.
The FFs didn't do as well well as I had hoped, but they just don't quite have the maturity and size that some of the other does did. My does tend to mature slowly though, so hopefully in a couple years they will be ready to kick butt! They've got a lot of potential, and I'm hoping a few more years and freshenings will bring that out.

I'll try to post a few pictures soon, we didn't get many, although I think I have a few.

First show of the year is tomorrow! Goats clipped and trailer packed. I've got a few udders left to shave and we'll be on our way tomorrow morning!
Loving how these goats are looking clipped down!

I also clipped Adonis down(for the first time in quite a while!) He's 2 years old now, and I thought I'd posted some pics of him and some of his current offspring. I'm quite pleased with what he's doing in my herd!

Gypsy

Don't tell Dove, but I think Gypsy is my favorite 2016 Sr. kid. Can you blame me though, for picking favorites? Hard not to when Poppy gives me a kid like this...

Can't wait to get her into the ring!!

Kidding season over!

Twist and Swamp finished out kidding season with Taxman’s kids. Twist kidded April 19 with a really pretty Cou Blanc doe kid. Merry Oaks Nuthin’ Fancy. Twist has a promising FF udder, a major improvement over her dam’s. I am not at all disappointed in her. However, I can’t have 6 2017 two year olds so Twist will most likely be sold this fall but I will certainly be keeping Fancy.

Swamp kidded April 25. She also had a single doeling (Merry Oaks ST Monday, Monday). She and Taxman’s colors combined nicely, as Monday is a chocolate Cou Blanc. Swamp’s udder is really nice too, not as much capacity as Tokyo’s but her attachments are a tad bit stronger. Monday will also be one of my 2017 dry yearlings.

That’s all the Alpines to kid for 2016, as Bam didn’t end up settling. I do have a Nigerian doe due in June, the first of our homebred Nigerians to freshen. Hopefully she is not as much of a demon as her dam is.

The Spring Show is in just 3 weeks. I’ve started clipping the Sr. does, and the Jrs are next on my list. Can’t wait to see these kids all clipped down! I’ve been very pleased with my kid crop this year, Adonis’s kids looking awesome as usual and his first 3 granddaughters not failing to impress me either.
