NC State Fair 2015

We're back from the show!
No Grands or Reserve but our does did well.
The NC State fair has one of the biggest dairy goat shows in the US, with over 325 Youth Dairy goats and close to 800 in the Open show and our numbers keep going up every year. The classes were very large and VERY competitive. I am quite pleased with my girls' placings considering we were showing against breeders and goats that show at Nationals.
I'll post some pictures later, and some of the individual placings.

Rain, Clipping and the NC State Fair.

We just broke a rain record in NC. It just finished raining for 12 DAYS! Everyone at Merry Oaks, goat and human, were very glad to say goodbye to the rain!
It is still very muddy and wet but I see sun today:) We also haven't been able to get any hay because of all the rain. Our hay provider said to call when the sun shines so hopefully we can pick up a load sometime this week.
It is also October 6th which means we load up and head for the fairgrounds in just 17 days. October Torture week has begun for my goats! To say the least they do not appreciate me clipping away all their beautiful hair. I'm very pleased with what I'm finding underneath their hair though! So far I've only had time to do 2 does, Poppy and Twist. Poppy is black so she needs a few weeks to grow out but I did get some pictures of Twist&Shout.

Oreo and Empress are next on my list. However, I had some trouble with my ClipMasters a few weeks back and they are still in pieces waiting for the switch to be replaced...So I'm hoping my A5s can get the job done until the replacement switch comes in for ClipMasters.
